THOGCHAGS: Tibetan Tiny Talismans
Welcome to THOGCHAG.COM. Many pilgrimages to Tibet have made me into an avid thogchag collector. Thogchags are cast metal charms or talismans worn, collected and loved by Tibetans. These small objects of Tibetan pre-Buddhist and Buddhist art were easily collected and traded by Nomads. The dates of their fabrication spans the history of the Tibetan plateau and mirrors the iconography of larger works of Tibetan Art. I first learned about thogchags from "Jungly" John Bellezza, one of the outstanding living historians, academics, explorers and chroniclers of the Lands of Snows. My own knowledge is limited but I shall try to point readers who want to learn more in the right direction on the Tibetan Art Resource site. Thanks for visiting! Lynne Heckert
